Buying guide & FAQ
Why cotton
Cotton is crisper than rayon, holds its shape, and hangs away from the body instead of clinging. It also forgives you: a gentle cold machine wash and a line dry is all it needs. If you'll wear the shirt every week, cotton is the practical pick.
RJC shirts like Lost Island and White Hibiscus Fern are cotton and made in Hawaii. Pacific Legend covers prints you won't find elsewhere on the site, like U.S. Route 66 and Florida Alligator Lagoon, with sizes up to 4X-Large.
Fit and sizing
Every Hawaiian maker cuts to its own size chart, so the Large you wear in one label may not be the Large you need in the next. Lay a shirt you already like flat, measure it armpit to armpit and from the collar seam to the hem, and email both numbers to jz@MauiShirts.com. We'll tell you which size to order.
Common questions
Is cotton or rayon better for a Hawaiian shirt?
Cotton is easier to care for and holds its shape. Rayon is softer, drapes more, and feels cooler, but needs gentler washing.
Can I machine wash a cotton Hawaiian shirt?
Yes. Use cold water on a gentle cycle, then line dry or tumble on cool and take it out slightly damp.
How do I find my size in a Hawaiian shirt?
Sizing differs from brand to brand. Lay a shirt you like flat, measure armpit to armpit and collar seam to hem, and email the numbers to jz@MauiShirts.com. We'll recommend a size.
