Buying guide & FAQ
Picking a fabric
8-way stretch boardshorts (Backyards, Tumbleland, Kukui, Ua Huka) move in every direction, which you'll notice the first time you paddle out or climb into a canoe. Quick dry styles like Kanaha and Kona Tiki are the ones to wear from the beach straight to lunch. The Nua is microsuede, a soft, peachy fabric that feels more like shorts than swimwear.
Length and waist size
The length in each title is the outseam, measured from the waistband to the hem. A 19 or 20 inch short sits around the knee on most men, and the longer 21 to 23.5 inch styles land at or just below it.
Boardshorts are sized by waist in inches. Several styles, including Backyards, Tumbleland, South Point and Nua, go up to a 60 inch waist, which is hard to find in a boardshort.
Common questions
What does 8-way stretch mean in boardshorts?
It means the fabric stretches in every direction, not just side to side, so the shorts move with you when you paddle, swim or squat.
What length boardshorts should I buy?
A 19 to 20 inch outseam sits around the knee on most men. A 21 to 23.5 inch outseam lands at the knee or a little below.
Do you carry big size boardshorts?
Yes. Several HIC styles come in waist sizes up to 60, including Backyards, Tumbleland, South Point and Nua.
Is shipping free?
