Christopher Columbus found pineapples on the Caribbean island of Guadalupe in 1493 and took them back to Spain.
Columbus introduced pineapples to Spain. Pineapples became popular among sailors as protection against scurvy.
The Spanish introduced the first pineapples to Hawaii. Hawaii is one of the top pineapple producers in the world.
James Dole, started his first pineapple plantation in Wahiawa, Hawaii in 1900 and opened his first cannery in 1901.
The Maui Pineapple Company began operations on Maui in 1909.
Del Monte began producing pineapples on Oahu in 1917.
The most popular pineapple sold in the United States is called Smooth Cayenne. Other varieties are Red Spanish, 'Kona' Sugar Loaf, Ntal Queen, Perambuco and Golden Supreme.
Pineapples require about 18 months to grow to maturity. A pineapple is ripe if one of its top leaves can be pulled out with ease.
In the Hawaiian language, Pineapple is "Hala kahiki" and the words, pineapple cannery would be: Hale hana hala kahiki.

LENGTH is the measurement from the top middle of the collar to the bottom of the shirt.
SHIRT CHEST is the circumference measurement determined by adding the back and front. The measurement is taken from under the armpits from seam to seam.

All Paradise Found shirts are handmade in limited quantities in Hawaii. These shirts are sewn to fit comfortably. They are NOT fitted shirts. There is no top button to close the neck. |
