The Batik Half Size Sarong is Available in Yellow Plumeria on a Burgundy background, Hawaiian Garden on a Black background, Orange Plumeria on a Royal Blue background, Paradise Garden on a Black background, Paradise Garden on a White background, Hibiscus Garden on a Turquoise background and Hibiscus Garden on Black background. The model is wearing the Batik Half Size Sarong as a top cover up in Yellow Plumeria on the Burgundy background and a Batik Full Size Sarong in the same print as the bottom cover up.
This Half Size Sarong is approximately 22" wide by 68" long. The Batik Full Size Sarong is finished with a Rolled Seam. Each sarong comes with a hand carved cocount shell buckle for easy tying.
Batik is a traditional method of hand painting. The artist begins with a blank white sarong. Melted wax is poured into a stylus and is used to draw the outline of the design. This keeps the color inside the outline. This results in a white outline when the wax is removed. Once the wax is dry, the artist will fill in the design using little pieces of sponge wrapped around a stick. The color will be dyed into the fabric until it reaches the wax outlines. The color will bleed through the fabric so the design will be vibrant on both sides of the sarong. After the design is painted, the wax is removed resulting in a one of a kind, hand painted sarong.
Sarong is the Indonesian word for sarong. Lava Lava is the Hawaiian word for Sarong. Pareo is the Tahitian word for sarong. Sarongs are traditionally used as shawls, bathing suit cover-ups, beach wraps and covers and even as tablecloths. Sarongs are machine or hand washable in a recommended gentle cycle in cold water and hung to dry.
